Sometime around 1987 Rick L, a sk8 punk fresh from Cali ran into a younger sk8 punk from Tacoma Wa by the name of Willie. That’s the year Rick L introduced Willie to Snowboarding and after that first trip there was no going back.
Both Rick L and Willie are Blue Collar guys that had to occasionally put work ahead of fun, but no matter what life had in store they made sure their friendship continued on strong. Playing in a band together, making time to meet up to play disc golf and of course trips up to Timberline (Whaddup Mt. Hood!). Even during the years that snowboarding had to take a back seat to life it was never far away. So how did the wax come into play? It all started when Rick L began experimenting with making wax for him and his friends to get around buying from big box online stores like amazon when their local board shop closed. The feedback he was getting was great and Willie saw a way for the two of them to become a part of the snowboard industry they both loved so much because “the shit worked good and it just felt right”. With 30 plus years of friendship, some slickassnot wax (thanks to Rick L's recipe) and Rick’s childhood nickname Booger Red was born. With two friends, a facebook page and love for and from the community (huge shout outs to Johnny Lupo at Board Works Tech Shop and Jason Basarich at Damage Inc.) Booger Red’s Snowboard Wax has been going strong since November 2018.
